"......these four musicians from different backgrounds and different countries in the world found each other because of the fact that their musical gift, musical ideas, musical instinct, taste, technical ability, virtuosity and performance qualities are a perfect match with each other.
They share the ardent wish to play chamber music on the highest possible level, to keep inspiring each other and explore the most beautiful musical repertoire, resulting in exciting and original performances.
They want to share with the audience the music in which they so passionately believe."

ELAN WITH JACQUES THIBAUD TRIO
January 9, 2008 by Marja Koster, Hoog en Laag, The Netherlands

Concert at Wageningen University, Monday January 7, 2008

Wageningen- Monday night the auditorium of the University of Wageningen was  completely packed during the performance of Flutist Eleonore Pameijer and the Jacques Thibaud Trio from Berlin. The organisation had to place many extra chairs on the stage, close to the musicians! Members of the trio are: Burkhard Maiss-violin, Philippe Douvier-viola and Bogdan Jianu-cello. Dutch Flutist Eleonore Pameijer joined the trio for this special concert.

The trio started playing together in 1994 at the Hochschule in Berlin and since that time the young musicians performed highly successfully in Europe, Japan, Corea and the USA.
It was the first time that the audience in Wageningen could listen to these passionate musicians. Flutist Eleonore Pameijer gave a highly personal contribution to the evening.

The concert started off with two Fugue’s by Johann Sebastian Bach. The violin started very tender and softly, followed by the flute and then joined by the two other musicians. This was the upbeat to the  famous Quartet in D by W.A. Mozart-sparkling in all it’s three movements- commissioned by the  Dutch flutist Mr. Dejean in 1777.
The flute could totaly show-off  in this composition as well as in Mozart’s Overture ‘the Magic Flute’, in which the flute is essential! Of course this arrangement sounded a little different then the orchestral version, but the three string players gave it a beautiful bright colour.
Then the trio performed the two movements of Franz Schubert’s String Trio in B-flat.  They created a very clear and transparent atmosphere in the Andante Sostenuto and performed the Allegro with a radiant energy.
The performance of Jean Françaix’s virtuoso String Trio (1933), which is not often heard, gave the audience a most wonderful surprise with it’s unusual rythms and melodious passages, sonorously played and full of warmth.
In Boccherini’s Quartet in D it was even more obvious that all of the performers are gifted with an extraordinary virtuosity. With zest and élan, the musical notes moved and danced around eachother. The musicians showed a total unity of interpretation and the flutist added to this her striking personality. Especially in the Presto Finale the enthusiastic musicians expressed themselves in a top-notch captivating performance.

Jeff Hamburg

• This gorgeous piece of music by composer Jeff Hamburg is scored for two musicians and two actors.
The actors (man and woman) recite the entire biblical text. In between the text there is music, unaccompanied, just for the tenor singer and the flute.
What I like so much about it, is the fact that the musicians step in the places of the actors and vice versa; they take over each others parts all the time.

Jacques Thibaud Trio
